What Is Eyelid Aesthetics?

Also known as blepharoplasty, eyelid aesthetics is a surgical procedure to correct excess skin, muscle laxity and fatty puffiness of the upper or lower eyelids.

There are two main areas of application:

• Upper eyelid aesthetics: Targets excess skin that droops over the eye, tires the gaze and can make a person look fatigued.
• Lower eyelid aesthetics: Focuses on puffiness, bags and laxity beneath the eye.

Example: Someone who looks constantly tired despite being well rested may have either upper-lid drooping or lower-lid bags. Which one applies is assessed during examination.

How Is Blepharoplasty Performed?

• Excess skin and, where needed, fatty tissue are adjusted.
• Duration and anaesthesia (often local/sedation) depend on the scope.

Recovery

1. First days: Swelling and bruising around the eyes may occur.
2. First week: Cold application and rest are recommended; sutures are typically assessed in this period.
3. Later period: Swelling subsides and the result gradually emerges.
